Restylane is a gel that is injected into the skin in order to add volume to lips and lift up wrinkles and folds. Restylane consists of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance already present in your body. Once in the skin, Restylane works by creating volume. Some dermal fillers are derived from animal substances. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is non-animal. During treatment, the crystal-clear Restylane gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. It can be used to target folds and wrinkles, lip enhancements and shaping facial contours. The most common areas are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the lips, although other sites can also be treated.
Perlane differs from Restylane only in its gel particle size. Perlane gel particles are larger. They are designed for deeper injection than with Restylane.
Chemical peel or chemosurgery, is a non-invasive technique for wrinkled, blemished, unevenly pigmented, or sun-damaged facial skin, using a chemical solution to peel away the skin’s top layers. New cells will form during the healing process. Chemical peel can be used on the full face or on specific regions, such as the forehead or the area around the mouth.
Sagging skin will be lifted and underlying muscles tightened to give you a fresh, more youthful appearance. The degree of facelift will be decided by you and Dr. Bishop upon consultation. A standard facelift, “S” shape facelift, similar to the “Lifestyle lift”, or a mini facelift, sometimes referred to as the weekend lift are all offered here by Dr. Bishop and his highly experienced team. A facelift can be done alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, laser resurfacing, fillers and Botox.
Endoscopy is a surgical technique that involves the use of an endoscope, a special viewing instrument that allows a surgeon to see images of the body’s internal structures through very small incisions. In a forehead lift, the muscles and skin are removed or altered, raising the upper eyelids and minimize frown lines. Instead of the usual ear-to ear incision, three or more "puncture-type" incisions are made just at the hairline. The endoscope helps guide the surgeon, who removes the muscles that produce frown lines, and repositions the eyebrows at a higher level. Often, patients don’t realize how much their sagging forehead contributed to the signs of aging until they see themselves after the procedure.
A blepharoplasty is done to remove the excess fat and drooping skin of the upper eyelids and minimize bags under the eyes and tighten the lower eyelid skin. This procedure is primarily done to improve appearance. However, upper eyelid surgery can be done to improve visual field. This is an outpatient surgical procedure.
Your face is a composite of structural elements – chin, cheeks, brow, jaw seen in the context of your whole face. It is the relationship between these structural elements that creates the look that is uniquely yours. When one of these elements is too big, too small, too prominent, it tends to throw the face out of balance. Facial contouring, a form of plastic surgery that changes the basic structure of your face, may use carefully styled implants to create a more attractive, harmonious balance among your facial features. With facial implants, your surgeon can help you achieve, for example, a wide and stronger jawline, higher cheekbones or a fuller face, or added length and projection to a small chin.
Ear surgery, otoplasty, is done to set prominent ears back closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears. Ears are almost fully grown by age 4, and the earlier the surgery, the less teasing and ridicule a child will have to endure. Ear surgery on adults is also available with minimal down time.
Rhinoplasty is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.
